No one goes into marriage wanting a divorce, but the sad reality is that they are all too common these days.

Divorce is no party for either spouse, especially if kids are involved. Everything has to be split up including time and money; it’s a stressful and painful process that can’t be done completely alone.

If you have a friend currently going through a divorce, here are a few ways you can support them during their time of need.

1. Offer Your Time

The best thing you can do for a friend going through a divorce is to offer your time. Do they need someone to pick up the kids from school? Go grocery shopping? Help with cleaning? Having been married, they probably got used to always having a second person around to share household duties with. Now that they’re by themselves, it may seem overwhelming to have to do everything. What they really need right now is someone to support them and get them through this unfortunate life change day by day.
