Women Who Are Nothing Short of Amazing
Inspiration comes in many forms, whether by a creative work, kind act, or outstanding person. Consistently, women around the world have shown immense generosity in positions of power, advocating for social justice and reform of outdated political systems.
Here are a few of our favorite inspirational women who set an example for all of us to become better citizens within our countries and the world.
1. Emma Watson
While most people know Emma as Hermione Granger from the Harry Potter films, her talents extend outside of acting as well. An outspoken women’s rights activist, Emma was named the UN Women Goodwill Ambassador in 2014, at the age of 24.
She spearheaded their HeForShe campaign, calling for all genders to advocate for equality and also started a global feminist book club called “Our Shared Shelf.”
2. Malala Yousafzai
Malala has been advocating for women and children’s rights to education since she was a pre-teen, even surviving an assassination attempt in her home country, Pakistan, for her beliefs.
She has been the recipient of numerous prestigious awards including the Nobel Peace Prize, a Grammy for her autobiographical audiobook, and even honorary Canadian citizenship.
3. Christiane Amanpour
An award-winning journalist with her own interview program, and CNN’s Chief International Correspondent, Christiane Amanpour has an illustrious career reporting the news. She is best known for her fearless conflict reporting in Bosnia, Iran, Afghanistan, Iraq and other countries, speaking out against worldwide atrocities and advocating for justice.
She has also conducted interviews with many important world leaders including a live phone interview with Yasser Arafat in 2002.
