4. You Have Enough Money
Do you know how much money it will take to care for your pet in a week, month, or year? The cost of a pet includes adoption fees, medical expenses, spaying/neutering, food, and various other things. Owning a dog can cost anywhere from around $1000-$10,000 a year depending on the breed and general health of the dog. Cats could cost you from a few hundred dollars to a few thousand. Smaller mammals like rabbits, guinea pigs, or ferrets are only a few hundred dollars less on the low end of the spectrum. Think of a pet in terms of any large purchase; start saving early.
