3. Corn

Yes, corn is a vegetable and has some health benefits. However, corn is also a starch and therefore must be eaten in moderation. Because corn is starchy, it is broken down into glucose, which is easily turned into fat in our bodies. Corn can be used in your recipes to complement a dish, but should not be served as the main side if you are looking to lose weight.

Instead of serving corn as a side dish, choose a vegetable from the dark leafy green category. You will load up on fiber with very few calories.
